Surrounded on three sides by ancient woodland, our eight-acre site lies high up the side of the Wye valley, opposite the picturesque Welsh village of Llandogo. Its remote location offers peace and tranquillity for those staying there and the chance to truly get close to nature. The everchanging colours and mystery of the surrounding ancient woodlands and the magnificent vistas across the Wye valley give a true feeling of seclusion and remoteness from the bustle and noise of urban life.

Discovered in the nineteen fifties by Polish scout leaders, the site was initially used for summer camps for scout and guide units. In 1962 the land and semi derelict Woodside House were purchased through the efforts of Polish scout and guide leaders, their families and friends, who had settled in south west England after the last war. In continual use since then, the site has been gradually developed to provide camping sites and indoor accommodation for scouts, guides, cubs and brownies. The site is owned and operated by the Polish Scouting Association in the UK. Known in Polish as Stanica and locally as the Polish Scout House, our centre has given many generations of young people the opportunity to enjoy the great adventure that is Scouting.

The Wye Valley Woodside Centre lies on the Gloucestershire bank of the river, 11 miles from Chepstow and 9.5 miles from Monmouth and can be reached by a private drive leading from the A466 near Bigsweir bridge. A steep track at the east of the site provides access for pedestrians and cyclists via The Hudnalls Loop Road to St. Briavels village.

After major refurbishment work over recent years our centre offers purpose built, wheelchair user accessible indoor accommodation for up to 46 people as well as 5 camping fields with beautiful views of the River Wye valley. Set in an idyllic location, we welcome scout and guide, youth, school, and ‘Not for Profit’ groups, who would like to enjoy the adventure of the great outdoors; either under canvas or in indoor accommodation.
